Blanche was not a young cat when Janice purchased her, perhaps about six years old. Jane and Sy Howard of Jenwilli Cattery were downsizing and placing a number of breeding cats and Blanche was one of them. Janice felt she had a lot to offer, as she had always been a good producer, and knew Blanche would have litter or two before she was retired -- and she did! She was dam and grand-dam of many very special silvers and her name appears behind many pedigrees today.
Her most outstanding feature was her wonderful body. If you didn't know better you might think she was a male and she was certainly built a lot better than many boys being shown at that time. She was built like the proverbial "Mack truck!” She had a short chunky body with almost no neck and broad chest and shoulders. In addition she had lovely tophead and ears. Her only real fault was her eye color that was a very weak green -- but it WAS green! Like many of our wonderful producers, she could have done with a bit better break and shorter nose.
Janice had not had many goldens at Diadem so it was a quite of a surprise when Blanche produced one. He was sold as a pet to be neutered and he was. But then the show bug bit his owners and they were truly hooked when he went Best Cat in Premiership as an open. He was their first show cat and they showed him to grand premier and like many people who began by showing a premier, they went on and became involved in breeding. The cat was GP Diadem Kellee of Chazlee.
Blanche was born May 5, 1983, out of CH. Adcock Praise of Jenwilli and Adcock Rejoice of Jenwilli. She produced a number of lovely cats. The Howard’s bred Blanche to GC, RW Kimberlea Tad of Danpeg, which produced a fabulous litter of three Grands: GC Jenwilli Jeremy of Ahshra, GC Jenwilli New York N.Y. of Joyvyn, and GC Jenwilli Silver Magic.
Janice introduced Blanche to GC Diadem Personality Plus, DM, which in time produced the lovely CH, GP Diadem Dubarry. Janice was really disappointed when she had to spay the beautiful Dubarry, as she was quite nearly a GC, but when Janice later took her out in the Premiership class, she quickly earned the title Grand Premier. Last but not least, Blanche bred to GC, RW Denevers Serail of Diadem produced the handsome Shaded Golden, GP Diadem Kellee of Chazlee.
Though Blanche was easy enough to handle, she was a bit of a loner and was always more comfortable in her own spot of sunshine instead of socializing with the others in the house. She was well along in years and in good condition until one day when she died of pyothorax. Her legacy lives in the many of the lovely cats shown today.
