COUNTRYLOVE'S SUNFLOWER, DM

Breeder/Owner: Shirley Michaud-Dent-Tom Dent

Countrylove Sunflower, DM, is out of Hershie's Hansel of Countrylove, and Bricbrac's Celebrity of Countrylove. She was born March 18, 1986, the day after Shirley's birthday, in Rose Hill, Kansas, appropriately named for the Kansas state flower. Flower, as all knew her, had an absolutely delightful personality. Shirley always had a lot of fun with her as she was always happy-go-lucky and always went with the flow—nothing ever bothered her. Also, no one was ever a "stranger" to her as she was a very social kitty happily meeting and greeting everyone who came to visit.

Flower LOVED having babies. She was a perfect mother and best of all, she never had any trouble giving birth to her kittens. As they grew she had great fun teaching her little ones games to play. She was very easy to breed as she was a very proper lady of a certain sort for the boys who came to court her. Flower's deliveries were textbook examples of how births are "supposed" to happen. She was the "perfect" queen, with a fabulous personality.

Flower was first generation out of a Black Persian, Bricbrac's Celebrity of Countrylove. She inherited her dam’s outstanding solid type and temperament. In addition, she had a perfectly balanced short, short body with tiny little ears. Her coat color was dark but had a pure white undercoat, no barring and did get much lighter in color as she grew older. However, she did have gold eyes, which prevented her from being shown, but that did not matter, as Flower threw beautiful babies and in time earned the coveted title Distinguished Merit.

Flower passed her short body and small ears on to her kittens, as well as her short nose and round head. Her kittens always had very clear coats with pure white undercoats. However, Shirley is very thankful that Flower did NOT pass on her gold eye color. Eye color ever since has been very slow to come in, but it always did in time.

Flower achieved the title Distinguished Merit on October 25, 1997, proving she had the ability to produce high quality kittens and grand kittens. Although Flower's immediate offspring's titles consisted of one Grand Champion and four Grand Premiers, her offspring that did not Grand, have produced collectively an additional six Grand Champions, three Grand Premiers for an additional nine Grand Champions, for a "grand" total of 14 Grand Champion/Grand Premier descendants of Countrylove's Sunflower to date.

She lived a long and treasured life with Shirley until one week when she was 15 years old, she became ill for the first time in her life, and quietly passed on in the summer of 2001. She is sorely missed.
