Dear USGF Members,
Please send Karol Cummins,
a variety of professional quality photos of your cats. She would like to replace a lot of the old photos and add new ones to the website and have a good library to choose from when she needs a picture.
Members need to include the following for each picture submitted.
Name of cat
Sire:
Dam:
Color:
Website URL:
Karol is doing a lot of work on the website checking and revising a number of pages and converting some pdf articles to html. She would really like to get the slideshow working with new cats and links to members' websites off the ground as well.
Sincerely,
Gail Persinger, USGF President

Feb 14, 2010 is the deadline for the winter issue. This is the 4th issue for 2009. I am very sorry for the lateness of this, but we are trying very hard to get back on schedule for 2010.
Please submit any finals, spotlights, Ads or show scenes by that deadline. We will NOT accept anything after the deadline. We have to be strong in this because that is one of the things that has caused us to be so late this past year.
As I stated in my President letter, Peggy wanted to resign as Treasurer and Sally Daniels has taken over her position. Please send all checks to Sally for your renewals and ads in the future.
Sally Daniels
5242 Vista Grande Dr
Santa Rosa, CA 95403
Sally has set up a paypal address just for payments to the USGF via
. Remember when you send a payment always ADD $3 extra for the paypal charge.
If you need to talk to Sally please contact her on her regular email:
.
The dues have not changed for 2010, they will remain $45 first class Domestic, $50 Canadian members, $70 International members. A renewal envelope will be sent out with the winter issue. However, you can still send your renewal to Sally now.
I am sorry that I had to turn away many of you for Christmas ads since we did not have a Christmas issue but I hope that you will still advertise will us. That being said, Please consider an ad and send it to me not later than Sat Feb 14.
Sincerely,
Gail Persinger
USGF President

Dear Members,
Since the Fall issue was mailed out later than was expected, the deadline for the Winter issue of the USGF will be extended to 1-15-09.
Because Tinell has so much on her plate being the new Editor, I have agreed to take over the responsibilities of being the Ad Coordinator for her. In the future please send me any information for your ad or send me the completed ad and send your payment for the ad to Peggy, our Treasurer. I will then forward all ads to Tinell to be included in the Quarterly. Our email addresses are located on page 5 of the Fall 2008 USGF [Editor: or click on the 'contact' tab and select 'Executive Board' to email anyone on the Board.]
Sincerely,
Gail Persinger
USGF President

As luck would have it recent issues have made it both possible and advantageous to extend the submission deadline for the Fall issue. The new deadline is Friday August 22nd at midnight. If you have already sent us your submissions that's great, if not, please take this time to snap a few pictures and send them in.
I personally will be without my computer for a few days but you can still send me stuff. I may not respond right away but your emails will be stored in my web mail until I get my computer back next week.
Please use the following submission addresses:
All in The Family
Show Finals
Future Stars
Ardell Sims
Show Scenes
Spotlights
Tinell Priddy
Advertising
Letters to the Editors
Elise Scafani
If you have questions you can email Ardell or Tinell for help as I will not only be without a computer but also away from the phone visiting with family. Anyone wishing to participate in the interview with "Golden Breeders" please take this extra week to do so.
Thanks Bunches,
Elise

The USGF members and board have voted to purchase the Easy Ped program which will become a part of our club website and maintain a database of silver pedigrees. Will Ruther, the owner/developer of Pedigrees 2020 has offered a special sale to any USGF member who wishes to purchase his program and interface to link to the Easy Ped database. Will has also agreed to extend the sale for our club members so that all may benefit. A flyer will be included with the Summer issue of the Quarterly which will be mailed in the near future.
Please click here for more information about EasyPed and Pedigrees 2020 Summer Sale.

The ads are rolling in which is great and I am getting some camera ready ads which is also great but none of them are exactly the right size. They are either too tall/short or narrow/wide and usually disproportionately so which makes them very difficult to adjust for printing.
The finished size of the magazine is 8.5" x 10.5". Remember the page content should be within 8" x 10" and the color bleed should extend to 9" x 11". What this basically means is that any text/photo beyond 8" x10" will be too close to the edge or could get trimmed off the page. If your ad has a border and the overall ad is not the correct size, including a color bleed, either part of the border will be cut off or the ad will have to be reduced in size to fit on the page and will then have a white border behind it. If you were planning to have your beautiful color ad cover the page "edge to edge" this will not look as nice.
To avoid disappointments please size your ads according to these guidelines. See attachment for more details.
Finished size is 8.5" x 10.5"
Bleeds are 9" x 11"
Gutters are 8" x 10"
A BLEED is the color that extends beyond the finished design. This allows for any movement or trimming that may occur in the printing process without leaving a strip of color at the edge of the page that does not match the rest of the page.
A GUTTER is blank space that is left on the page between your
design/text to assure that your design or text does not get
trimmed off in the printing process or extend beyond the edge
of the finished page.
The following are the results of your USGF BOARD's poll taken in our February and March Board meetings to establish rules for members' SHOW SCENES and SPOTLIGHT.
QUESTION: We have voted unanimously to limit a member to one (1) individual photo (which includes the member's cat) and one (1) group photo per show.
In the case where there is a photo of a judge handling the member's cat, should that photo be published in addition to the one individual and one group photo? ANSWER: YES
For the Franciscan and Dixieland shows, there will be no limit on how many
times a member may appear in a group photo.
POLL QUESTION: Should there be a limit to the overall number of show scene submissions from any one member.
ANSWER: Members may submit show scenes from 3 shows.
There is a three-picture limit for Spotlight -- your choice -- adult or kitten or mix.
We are looking for a volunteer to write an index of the past issues of the
Quarterly, 1999 going forward. One of the reasons for this is to continue to have a complete description of
each issue, for example who's on the cover and what's inside, etc so that those interested in buying back issues will have some info to go on and to update the earlier Index, which can be found under 'articles' on this website. When completed we will have a comprehensive index system to tie many years of the
publication together for easy reference for all members. If you are interested in helping with this project
please contact Elise
Thanks,
Elise Scafani (Posted April 8, 2008) For the years that we have all 4 issues available you can order the
whole year for $20. This is a nice way to fill in the years before you
joined the USGF or to get some of your kitten buyers interested in the club.
Single issues are $7 each or $6 each if you order 3 or more. Special
discounts if you go totally crazy and get lots of the surplus issues.
There will be a shipping charge on all orders under $60, over $60
and the club pays shipping unless it is an international order (sorry, but
you will get a shipping credit in the amount for domestic shipping.) If you
order before a regular mailing and we can ship with your regular issue you
will get a discount on shipping also.
We still have some calendars left for 2008, $4 each or 3 for $10,
get 'em while it's still April!!
Hurry hurry hurry we will be mailing the Q in a few days!
